A little more about myself

"Growing up with a sibling who has Down syndrome instilled in me a lifelong passion for advocacy and disability inclusion. My journey only deepened as I became a mother to a son with Angelman syndrome, a rare neurogenetic disorder affecting just 1 in 15,000. I am also a psychologist that works specifically with the Traumatic Brain Injury community- so I suppose one could say I live and breathe advocacy and inclusion! Writing and illustrating disability-inclusive books is not just a dream; it's my calling. I am dedicated to blending my love for art and advocacy to create informative and inclusive narratives that resonate with all, and helps create a sense of belonging + community that our loved ones with disabilities so deserve. My illustration style conveys cozy, folk-like and whimsical (but relatable) imagery that is achieved through a combination of gouache, acrylic and Procreate medias. When I'm not writing or painting, you can find me in my garden or beach dwelling on Michigan's Great Lakes alongside my family"
